I’m not sure if the emergence of Home Depot eliminated many contractors. But I do think Home Depot created a lot of contractors who shopped at Home Depot.
Lowering the cost of tools doesn’t eliminate professionals. It can actually create more of them:
AWS didn’t eliminate software companies.
Shopify didn’t eliminate brands.
AI probably won’t eliminate consultants or software developers either.
